Benedetta Chiara Maria Giammarco
Biography
She was born in one of the wildest regions of Italy, Abruzzo, a place where the
sea and the mountains meet and the Sublime raises you up.
She is attending Accademia di Belle Arti Venezia pursuing a degree in Painting.
Previously, she attended Liceo Artistico, Musicale e Coreutico MIBE, Fine Arts course.
Throughout her 5 years of high school she has developed various competences
in Painting and Sculpture studies, along with 3 years of Geometry and
Architecture studies.
Regarding extracurricular activities she has taken part in two projects and a
course.
The first one was “Peer to peer”, with the artist Lorenzo Kamerlengo. It was a
workshop of 3 months where the participants developed their own artistic
project after theoretical seminars, finishing with the exhibition “O-Maggio a
Misticoni” at the Museum of Modern Art “Vittoria Colonna”, Pescara.
The second one was “Artistica...mente MIBE” with the teachers Silvia Pennese
and Emiliano Faraone. It was a workshop on land art with a focus on suburbs
redevelopment. After two theoretical seminars, groups where formed. Each
member had a specific function, having to project the redevelopment of a
suburban abandoned field, to make it a garden with the aim to be also an
aggregative centre with a polyfunctional structure. She was in charge of the
sculptures, decorations and seats in the garden.
She has attended an Illustration professional course at Scuola Internazionale di
Comics, Pescara, for 2 years. There, she has studied a variety of drawing and
painting techniques, anatomy, colour theory and perspective. In addition she has
developed illustration projects, including an illustrated book prototype.
She has also attended real life drawing lessons.
In addition, she has worked for 9 months as a gallery assistant at
YAG/garage, a local gallery under Carlo Maresca S.p.a.
Her job is to assist in the gallery events with public relations and preparation
and during artist residencies.
She worked for the exhibition Young African Art, where 6 artists from Africa
were involved in a residency and an eventual exhibition of their works.
