Since I can remember, I have always drawn from my imagination and had ideas, images that I had to materialize. When I was in elementary school, I met with people who introduced me to the art of Claude Monet. I discovered the art culture with the impressionist movement. His painting of real-life scenes on the edge of abstraction evokes for me the softness and the calm of a sweet dream.
After Middle school, I went to an artistic High school where I could learn graphic design, have my first internship and improve my drawing skills. Then I did one year in a private art school in Paris where I learned how to use acrylic painting and the creative process I could use for my art projects. I finally went to a cinema school for four years. I learned to be a director for commercials, music videos, and tv shows.
After my studies, I worked as a videographer in a digital consulting company where I was responsible to an internal tv channel. In summer 2018 I left France for a year in South Korea. I worked in a language exchange coffee shop in Seoul. That's when I got my artist name Gyuri, and I started thinking about setting up my own website with my own products. But back then, I had a terrible lack of confidence in my potential. Selling my art and exposing my work in a gallery was way too complicated and unthinkable.
It was on my return to France that I realized something. I am an artist, and there are some things I couldn't stop until I die. Drawing, creating and sharing my universe. So I created my Instagram page and started to sell my artwork. I got the chance to do my first exhibition at the end of 2020, it was an idea of one of my roommate´s friends. We did an art exhibition in our house, then invited some friends. Then for two years now, I´ve got the chance to be exhibited in some galleries, digital galleries, and even got the chance to show one of my paintings at the Art Shopping of The Louvre in October 2022. From now on, I decide to believe in what I´m doing and give myself a real opportunity to share my worldview through my art.
I think there is always a lot of inspiration everywhere. I can usually see inspiration from people, men, and women with whom I cross paths. I have a tendency to bring the feminine side forward. My everyday life is full of energy I can have a new creation in my head every day. My work is about the power we can find within ourselves and all the emotions we have.
