My name is Carly Renée Frankham, I’m 28 years old with a background in film and television. Working a corporate role within the media landscape I filled any spare time after work and on weekends creating artworks and teaching myself all that I could about the beautiful and compelling world of art. I felt I couldn't live a life not dedicated to art so after two years of juggling both I left my coveted job at Channel 9 to pursue my long time dream of being an artist.
6 years later I stand firmly in my dedication to my art career, each sold artwork still fills me with the same excitement and deep gratitude for the support in a truly beautiful pursuit. I know my work brings something simple yet so beautiful to a world filled with so much pain, chaos and sadness.
With my profound love for painting and a deep connection to the female form, I sit before each new canvas and weave the nature of each woman that sits for me with their soft and strong spirits into each work. I often use a single piece of drapery to help tell their stories.
Referencing the luminary painters of the impressionist era, I choose to marry traditional and contemporary techniques in my work, offering a modern reimagining of classic styles. I am passionate about transforming the women I paint, allowing their spirit to transcend the canvas, inviting viewers to revel in the timeless beauty and emotional depth of my sitters.
My artistic evolution has been profoundly shaped by my role as a studio assistant for award-winning artist Angus McDonald. Angus's mentorship has instilled in me a heightened sensitivity to the interplay of light and form, as well as a keen understanding of how to imbue each brushstroke with emotion and intentionality.
