Luciano Fonseca Pinheiro was born and reared in the city of Bertioga, and has been in contact with nature since his early life. From his memories, we may feel the deep relationship of his work and the transformed experience as observer, experimenter and performer connected to a deep truth with his heritage.
From the reeds, cattails, river and sea, from the forest that borders the dirt roads, he grew up and developed himself with a great identity connection with the natural world.
From his mother, he inherited the knowledge in cooking and doing, with the meaning of performing, surviving, and from his father, a fisherman he inherited the art of discovering and of venturing out in the sea, in order to know, to explore and to complete himself.
After some trials with Art, through Music, mainly the violin and audiovisual, he studied chemistry and pharmacy, discovering the fundaments of nature in which he grew up. When he was 24 years old, he came to São Paulo to study Design and Audiovisual, discovering the fundaments of Art and the potential of creation with the natural elements he used to research, more specifically pigments, fibers, textiles and the work with colors. At this moment, he enrolls the Master degree Course at EACH (College of Arts, Sciences and Humanities) of the University of São Paulo, developing the thesis “Banana Tree Fiber: extraction process, improvement and its applicability in textile products”.
From the study of Design and creation of products, he developed the skill to make objects, and from the Audiovisual, the fundaments of issues connected to artistic language to create images and its elements. At that moment, he noticed the potential to go beyond the artistic issues, and to explore the whole set of knowledge, skills and sensibility as an artist.
Among my students, Luciano Pinheiro stood out always due to his tireless and noble search of learning, when expressing himself with great talent. As a student of mine of Art Direction and Aesthetics in the Cinema, in the course of Audiovisual Production, he continued his studies in Creative Processes, History of Art and Poetry with individual classes at the atelier, strengthening his conviction on developing and creating an Art work with its own language and it is exactly in this context that he starts creating his first series of art work, with a Composition named “Favela”.
In 2021, Luciano Fonseca Pinheiro was awarded one of the highest art awards in Brazil financed by the Aldir Blanc law to exhibit his works from the Res íd (u) o series. The exhibition was curated by the late Plastic Artist, Poet, Stage Actor and Director and Transdisciplinary Professor Luiz Roberto Rodrigues Lopreto.
