Francisco Figueiredo Lopes
1998, Lisbon
Francisco Figueiredo Lopes is a visual artist who works
across various media including sculpture, installation, set design, painting,
drawing, printmaking, and video. He began his artistic education specializing
in artistic ceramics at the Artistic School António Arroio in 2019, where he
developed his technical and theoretical skills. In 2023, he earned a degree in
sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Lisbon, and
currently, he is pursuing a master's degree in sculpture at the same institution.
His research revolves around using forms and space as a
political statement, focusing on playgrounds and amusement parks. He explores
themes such as war, extraction, hyper-capitalism, and hyper-consumerism,
examining how the repetition of behavioral patterns in contemporary society
perpetuates conflicts and social inequalities.
Since 2019, Francisco has exhibited his work nationally and
internationally, participating in both group and solo exhibitions.
