My work strives to document the world around me.
Foremost I am interested in examining the interrelationship of wealth, power
and democracy. To do this, I pull my information from: books, articles and
data. Which brings me to wonder about the creation of a spatial expression
through sculpture.
Â
My research revolves around geopolitics. I look at how
vice seems to be presented and perceived as virtue with greed for the heart of
our global economy. And the resulting repercussions that always reach the mass
first. With some tools, our leaders can keep a strict and insidious control
over their elector, such as propaganda and especially sociology. One of the
first sociologists; Gustave Le Bon inspired Mussolini, Hitler and Lenin with his
studies on crowd psychology. He explains that the logical individual is erased
by the emotional mass, which reacts to images, contradictions and especially to
hatred.
Â
Before creating a political sculpture, I take from all
possible sources until saturation. Once I have some inspiring information, I
start visualizing the project. I wonder about each element present: their
reason for being, their color, their shape and their weight. All to make sure
that the work is consistent, but also visually captivating. I do not let my
first ideas take over, I let the work breathe and evolve over time.
Â
I like creating engaging pieces that lead to
reflection. Moreover, I am inspired by the career of Jacques Louis David and
his works as a guide, and thus, to conceive a work that represents the mass,
via the current popular revolutions, across the globe. There is a wind of
global change to live and to create.
