Hello,
I am Hana El-Sagini, I was brought up in an incredibly renowned artistic family in Egypt - I am fourth generation - and this is exactly why I never wanted to be an artist, I was taught classical painting and drawing since a very young age by my late father and mentor, as part of the family tradition. I went on and studied Economics in Cairo University, graduated 2001 and worked in Multinational Corporations for 13 years, and in 2014, I decided to take art a a full time career and fearfully follow the family journey.
From that time on, my father passed away, leaving me alone at the beginning of my journey.
In 2015 I opened my small art school for children, went and studied Art in the summers of 2015 and 2016 in Barcelona at “Metafora Workshop for Contemporary Art” , I had many group shows, 3 solo shows in Cairo, in 2018, 2019 and 2021, that are questioning my understanding of the past and how to deal with loss and memories. I won The Dean Award #tdc20 in 2018, and a nice prize from your competition in its 13th Edition, "The Biafarin Art Prize” in 2019.Then I moved to Düsseldorf in 2019, and in 2020 I moved again partially to Basel for my Masters in Fine Arts at the Institute Kunst (HGK) at the FHNW university, where I received a scholarship. I work between Cairo, Dusseldorf and Basel.
