Art is a voice, art is a scream.
Art must be a loud voice screaming.
ZECO was born in the middle of the jungle in Mozambique. He grew up in the middle of medieval castles in Portugal. Now, he lives in the middle of the restless landscape of the United States.
ZECO studied Art at the National Society of Fine Arts in Lisbon, Parsons School of Design, and New York University.
He studied the classic masters in Europe and the Modernists in the United States. He likes to mix styles and traditions to amplify his creative horizons.
His Art is tinged with shades of Surrealism, Modernism, Expressionism, Pop Art, and the Renaissance.
ZECO paints the invisible message in front of me.
He paints conceptual images to help him uncover hidden emotions, unveil the current state of affairs, and explore social and political issues.
He paints the feelings in his brain and the visions in his heart.
His right brain is inspired by his left.
A new painting is always an immersive experience and a shot of adrenaline that forces him to find a visual resolution.
His work may take different forms and styles, but color is one of the main characters in his artistic universe. Bold and strong colors make me smile and help me express ideas and emotions.
He uses oils, acrylics, pastels, pencils, and digital tools to create his work. His work is usually focused on one subject around one main idea which can be a critique of a social issue, the difference between past and present, the expression of a feeling, or whatever makes an emotional or intellectual impression on me.
ZECO usually shares his work with friends and family to get their opinions and feedback before his work is finished. He is not looking for approval or any kind of positive confirmation, but he likes to make sure that the ideas and messages in his paintings are clear, easily readable, and leave people smiling.
For the last few years, he is been displaying his work in Galleries around the USA and Europe.
Lately, he has been looking at contemporary work from new, young artists embracing new technologies and tools that can add a deeper perspective to Art.
Art is a pleasant journey for Zeco.
His heart is motivated by the creative process, and just like His heart...HE IS INSPIRED!
