Svetlana Ivanova was born in Siberia in 1993. On cold days, which were frequent, she painted landscapes, still life’s and portraits in her small former Soviet town of Iskitim. From the age of six to fifteen, she attended art classes three times a week every afternoon after school. In 2008, Svetlana attended Novossibirsk College where she took classes in Fine Art and Interior Design. Continuing her studies at Novossibirsk State Pedagogical University, she received her Diploma in Children’s Art Education in 2014. On her visits to her sister in South East France, Svetlana fell in love with the bright sunlit landscape in Drôme. Deciding to leave monochrome snowbound Siberia behind she settled in the picturesque town of Valence in 2017. Having always been a lover of vivid colour, Svetlana developed her own take on Pop Art portraiture, with character, emotion and feeling becoming paramount in her work at this time. Brightness and humour are primarily Svetlana’s way of expressing her love for the world.
