Katie studied Fine Art at Wolverhampton University achieving a first class honours degree. After going out to see the world for a year She returned with new ideas and took up a Masters degree in Fine Art at Southampton University. After yearsi of teaching she decided to take a Masters degree in Business and Administration which has led her to sell and share her work. Katie has a public piece on permanent show in Wolverhampton situated on a roundabout. Specialising in abstract forms, Katie’s work now explores ideas surrounding the process of thought, emotions and feelings. Excepting her mental health as part of her, she channels the complexity of thought into her layered surfaces that contrast between order and chaos. Her work is brought together by the artist’s hand through mark making and stitch. The process used to calm thoughts and give calm rhythms to at times chaotic thought. An attempt to allow two worlds to collide. An encouragement to stop once in a while to see the environment around. Some of the world in her latest series of fluid and sewn work highlight aspects of places where one goes to decompress - sat on a park bench near water or taking time to look out high up over a city.
