Hey, I am Philipp.
I am a graphic designer based in munich, but imagining on paper and creating art is my favourite passion!
I studied communication design at the University of Applied Science in Munich. During that time I developed my abstract and surrealistic drawing style. It was also the time where I enjoyed experimenting with peculiar ideas, motives and characters. In my work I am often inspired by modern day living, surrealism, nature and abstract concepts. I do really admire the ideas and atmospheres surrealists like de chirico, dali or kay sage have created. Also the works from american realist Edward Hopper have been a great Inspiration. When drafting I always seek for an aesthetically touching experience. In regards to that, I like to scale most of my work for large fine art print formats.
In spring 2023 I had a first group exhibition in Dachau, Munich. With the theme "Abstrakte Natur" I had 15 of my works on display. Me and the other participants had a lot of fun exchanging thoughts and opinions with visitors and each other.
Also since spring 2023 the posterseries "The blue mosaic city" is available at the poster shop buromuro (https://buromuro.com/collections/philipp-berg) which I created in late 2022.
In spring 2023 I finished my Design Bachelors degree, moved more to the center of munich and started a new design-job (way finding signage). For months I wasn't able to generate the artistic output that I once generated/ and now again can. I was able to break through that barrier which helped me develop my technique, and getting a better understanding what my art should be like.
With this submission of five works, I sent you the series which I created in the past two months after I moved. It's called "Land of the lucky". These landscapes all have their own character, that lives organically despite the limited geometric environments their embedded in.
For the future I want to work on larger formats, create more motives, develop my skills and participate at more exhibitions. I would also love to see different locations expanding my understanding of the world and our lives in general, to have the opportunity to exchange and talk with other artists and learn from likeminded people. I would therefor love to join Arte Laguna 2024.
