ARTIST STATEMENTI was born in 1991, in Hungary. I studied visual arts in Eszterházy Károly College (Hungary) and graduated with a bachelor degree as a visual representation artist in 2014. I worked in painting since then, but I have experimented in installation and other visual arts as well. Now I am attending the Hungarian University of Fine Arts as a painter student. As a painter I have used family-photographs or photographs made by myself about my family for the basis of my paintings. Initially I have painted many genre-pictures based on these photographs. I have been interested in memories for a long time. Many of my works concern the issue of memory, passing and our relation to our ancestors’ inheritance.Besides painting I am also interested in the usage of text and spoken word. My main interest lies in the connection of written language and visual information. Sometimes I juxtapose personally important texts with ’ready-made’ materials from my home village, or relics from my family. In my installations I certainly use these materials to make sort of memorials of the past life.In my works I apply lot of elements from the Hungarian folklore. However, it is not only the influence of my childhood years I have spent in my home village. For many years I experienced the Hungarian traditions and habits profoundly (besides theoretical researches I used to dance and sing in a Hungarian folk-dance group). The traditions I grew up with influenced my life, but of course I came to realize that I cannot live my ancestor’s life. For me the important thing is to find out and perceive my inner traditions in the world I live, and explore my past through my relatives’ life
