Daniela Antonelli / 1981 / Rio de Janeiro /Brazil.
I am a female Brazilian artist, mother of two girls, living
in the region of Versilia, Italia.
I am interested
in art as an instrument of connection between the tangible and intangible worlds.
My work manifests itself in the form of drawings, videos, objects made out of
natural materials such as stones, bones, leather, feathers, hair, among other
things.
The transition
of a natural object to a cultural object is one of the things I am interested
in as an artist. How that transition is made, what is necessary for it to occur
and the role of the artist in this process.
In Brazil I had
the opportunity to show my work in a few solo and collective shows in
galleries, institutions, alternative art spaces, art fairs and so on. I also attended residency programs in The
United States - Residency Unlimited and England - West Dean Foundation.
In the past two
years I have been using videos and drawings in an intimate scale to talk about
the complex reality of an immigrant mother during the pandemic.
During this time
I have also been able to develop a series of laboratories with kids working
with painting , and object making. It has been a valuable addition to my
practice as an artist since, working with kids and art, is something refreshing
and powerful.
Now
I continue to develop my research focusing in unveiling the peculiarities
of daily life through drawings and videos.
