She started painting unexpectedly, being an adult. The first time when she took up the brush was at the turn of her 50th birthday. Once being enlighted in her heart, the passion for painting remained in her forever.
Rusudan writes her pictures only about those things, that bring interest and joy to her. Being born by rich imagination of the artist her child-like-sincere works reflect the movement of her soul, fantasies, similar to the tales. She made several series – Old City, Animals and Plants, trees and landscapes, Churches, Nations Migrations, Portraits and Masks. She devoted a lot of pictures to her home town – Tbilisi. She managed to create a new look of her own city, to reflect it`s soul. Each house is a living creature for the artist. A cycle of architectural landscapes of Old Tbilisi, the Maze of the balconies, the porches and the roofs resemble colorful decorative carpets and tapestries. Many art connoisseurs felt the unique color of these works.
One of the articles about the work of Rusudan Andronikashivili was named: “Every famous collector has bets in his belfry because of Rusudan`s roofs”. Trees as a symbol of creation and life often become an object image but sometimes a fanciful synthesis is born: trees under bright sunlight hook into the urban landscape, creating special and emotional atmosphere. The variety of methods used by her attract people. Along with traditional technics – tempera, acrylics and oil – Rusudan Andronikashvili can work with a very unexpected method.
The painter is very sensible to falsity and insincerity, she writes only about those things that create good mood and awake positive emotions. “There are enough problems in life, I don`t want to thrust negative thoughts and feeling onto people. We should enjoy life!” – She says.
The artist`s works, indeed, generously give the audience the feeling of beauty, peace and the joyful sensation of being. Picturesqueness, the sincerity of her works, spontaneity are the distinctive features of her works. Like music, her spontaneous-associative creativity expresses emotions and mood conditions that are concretized and fixed by the title of works. Images reproduced by the painter are timid and never leave her art`s audience and admirers indifferent.
“Materialized images of reality are not only symbols, reflections of what exists in the inner, mental world and is not executed into material forms. The symbolists use this way and so, some works of Rusudan remind of Churleonis, Berklin and at the same time of expressionists. Many of our coevals try to lead this way, but not that many of them have as much strength, confidence and energy as Rusudan has”
Svetlana Chromchenko, art-critic, The State Museum of Oriental art, Moscow.
