DATE OF BIRTH
Maryam Faraj Al Suwaidi is a Qatari artist. Bachelor’s in interior design, masters and a current PhD candidate in Urban planning and design.
In Maryam Artworks, she experiments with different types of art forms from drawing and painting to digital illustration and glass making. Her inspiration comes mainly from research, and the study of social behaviors & actions. Her objective is to see how viewers react to her art pieces, using the baby as a metaphor of the individual. Participated in various international Urban design competitions, art exhibitions, and art programs such as Fire station Art Residency.
Maryam believes that art should be more than just fine pieces of handwork propped on display waiting to be admired, but that art pieces are there to deliver a message to the world. Largely a self-taught Artist, Maryam has a passion and joy for discovering answers to the complexities found in the works of those past masters and continues to strive for a similar quality in her own work.
Much of her inspiration is derived from social behaviors and actions. Researching and studying society is the most critical step and makes up the structure of every item in her work. fueled by different philosophical theories and drawing from different artistic approaches, the objective for most of the artists pieces is to study the reactions and thought process of understanding the introduced topic.
