I was born in the city of Rio de Janeiro in
1972 and, throughout my life, I was involved in creating various forms.
However, it was only recently that I made the decision to devote myself
to art in a more intense way.
Although my background was in journalism, before I
even graduated as a journalist I realized that my path was different,
and that my creative expression was not in the words.
My father and grandfather, both plastic artists,
chose Bahia and there they found the ideal environment to live and
exercise their crafts. I did not choose Bahia but somehow Bahia
chose me, and although I lived in Rio de Janeiro all my life, it
was in Bahia, in that familiar environment, that I felt that I was
approaching something that made sense. Since I was a child, my
learning took place on the basis of observation, and in this
sense, I consider myself a self-taught artist. I'm still trying to
understand myself in this universe, and I believe I'm going to die trying
because that search seems to be part of the whole process.
Since 2015, I work as a freelance illustrator, using
watercolor as main means of expression. But I have always enjoyed
experimenting with new materials, which led me to the Intersection
series I present here.
